It was a special night at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester last Thursday. Former lead vocalist of Journey, Steve Augeri and his band performed to benefit Sunrise Day Camps. It's the nation’s only dedicated day camps for children with cancer and their siblings, provided completely free of charge. The fun, friendship and happiness continue year round through various camp-like programs and hospital services. Sunrise Day Camps bring the simple pleasures of childhood back to children struggling with cancer, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, laughter and happiness. And because Sunrise is a day camp, it does all this while allowing the children to continue their medical treatment and enjoy the comfort and safety of their own homes at night. Today, Sunrise Day Camps have locations in Long Island, NY, Pearl River, NY and Israel, and are affiliated with 21 renowned hospitals and medical centers. The Capitol Theater hosted the event with cocktails, and fabulous food provided by Lawrence Scott Events. Tulane Alumn Elyse Luray was the auctioneer and helped to raise money for this very worthy cause. Please visit the Sunrise Day Camp site to learn more and help where you can.
